SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS 2024-2025

The General John M. Brown and Alice Foster Scholarship was created in 2022 to assist distinguished students from Vicksburg High School and Warren Central High School in achieving their academic goals. This page will be updated annually with scholarship winners.

Tatum Watts

Warren Central High School (RCEC Campus) 2025 recipient of the General John M. Brown and Alice Foster Scholarship

  • Tatum Watts is a dual enrolled high school senior. She graduated from Warren Central High School in Hines Community College in May of 2025. Her high school GPA is 4.795 weighted and 3.759 unweighted. While in high school she participated in a plethora of activities including Key Club, Varsity Football Cheer (Co-captain and three-year Letterman), Varsity Competition Cheer (Co-captain and three-year Letterman), Varsity Bowling (MVP and four-year Letterman), Student Council (Treasurer), Student Government Association, Phi Theta Kappa (Vice President), National Honor Society, Gala Committee (Decoration Leader), Gen now (Co-creator and Leader, and is a mentor at Beechwood Elementary School. She was also very active outside of school with groups such as Crossway Church, the City Youth Ministry, Subdebs of Vicksburg, Vicksburg Cotillion Club, and Service Over Self. She served over 400 community service hours with her favorite being alongside Service Over Self, where she rebuilt and updated homes to meet the needs of underprivileged elderly citizens. She has earned many awards throughout high school including Honor Roll, Dean’s list, Viking Award, Service Cord Award, Cougar Award, Compass Award, Most Versatile Cheerleader, MVP bowler, UCA All-American cheerleader, Buoy Award, Resilient Award, Who’s Who Among Hinds Students, and Luckyday Scholar. In addition to school and extracurricular activities, Tatum has worked at Bottin consulting and for many local families babysitting, pet sitting, or house setting. She plans to attend the University of Southern Mississippi in August 2025 to pursue a nursing degree.

 
 

Saniyya Brown

Vicksburg High School 2025 recipient of the General John M. Brown and Alice Foster Scholarship

  • Saniyya Brown is a senior at Vicksburg High School. She is a dedicated student, leader, and active community member who is passionate about helping others. Her academic goal is to graduate top of her class and pursue a career as a labor and delivery nurse. She has participated in several extracurricular activities that have helped shape her work ethic and her character as a leader. She is inspired to make a difference in the world, and she plans to continue giving back to her community and making a positive impact in the healthcare field.

Aiji Rader

Vicksburg High School 2024 recipient of the General John M. Brown and Alice Foster Scholarship

  • Aiji Rader is a student council member, as well as a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Key Club, and National Leadership and Success.  She is the Vice President of Key Club and a class representative.  She was chosen as the 2023 Homecoming Queen.  She represented her class two years in a row as a Gator Girl. She received her white coat for Forensic Biology. She plans to attend Hinds Community College to major in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and aspires to work as a Pediatric Sonographer in California.

 
 

Adalyn Anderson

Warren Central High School 2024 recipient of the General John M. Brown and Alice Foster Scholarship

  • Adalyn Anderson is a highly motivated upcoming graduate who plans to go to Mississippi State and further her academic career by majoring in criminal justice. She is involved in many school sports and community engagement activities. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Key Club, Beta Club, Red Cord Service Club, and Mu Alpha Theta. During the summer she served as a camp counselor at Camp Silvercloud, an overnight summer camp hosted by the Junior Auxiliary of Vicksburg for children and adults with special needs. As a Vicksburg Cotillion Club member, she supports the organization by fundraising through community car washes, canned food drives, and toy drives. The Cotillion Club aims to provide young women with etiquette leadership and community service skills. She is a Sales Associate /Keyholder at Salon Centric, where she has been employed since May 2023. Prior to her employment at Salon Centric, she worked at locally owned Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory from June 2021 until November 2022.

Davian McDonald

Sha’Kyria Allen

Vicksburg High School 2023 recipient of the General John M. Brown and Alice Foster Scholarship

  • Sha’Kyria Allen is a graduating senior attending Vicksburg High School. While in high school, she participated in several in-and out-of-school extracurricular clubs, sports, and activities, including serving as the President of the Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, Vice President of Kiwanis Key Club, Secretary of Student Ambassador, Secretary of MXO Pearls Girls Club, Secretary of National Technical Honor Society in 2020, Secretary of Student Council in 2019. She also participates in the National Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, HOSA, and Jr. NAACP. Earned a 4-year varsity letter in varsity cheer and varsity track & field and played soccer for two years. She has volunteered for the Shady Lawn Nursing Home, Mountain Faith Woman Shelter, and other community services while maintaining a 4.439 GPA. Sha’Kyria worked at McDonald’s and Cracker Barrel Old Country Store for the summers and the beginning of her senior year. She is currently working part-time at Rally’s as a Team leader. She plans to attend Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA, in the fall.

William “Will” Watts

Warren Central High School 2022 recipient of the General John M. Brown and Alice Foster Scholarship

  • Will Watts is a senior at Warren Central High School with a 4.64 GPA and is dual-enrolled at Hinds Community College. He will graduate with a General Studies associate degree before graduation from WCHS.

    Will has more than 600 service hours throughout high school, including serving as a mentor to younger teenage boys and a volunteer in the children’s department of his church. He has helped Jacob’s Ladder, WinShape Camps, Kiwanis Club, and Eagle Lake food relief. He has spent more than 100 hours working to rebuild and update homes of underprivileged, elderly, and disabled citizens.

    Will’s participation in school and community organizations includes the National Honor Society, National English Honors Society, Phi Theta Kappa, Key Club, Varsity Archery Team, and Varsity Bowling Team. He faithfully attends services and youth group activities at his local Christian church, where he volunteers in the children’s department and junior high youth group. His awards include Delta Honor Graduate, Honor Roll, Red Service Cord Award, Top Driver Award, Blue Service Cord Award, Volunteer Award, Green Service Cord Award, and Highest Honors Award. He plans to enroll at Mississippi State University to study Business Management, focusing on Finances.
